is designed for and limited to Title I Directors with two years or less
experience as a Title I Director. As requested by new directors, the workshop
is by invitation only and will have several hands-on sessions. The pre-conference
workshop will continue the tradition of including sessions on the legal
mandates for Title programs; sessions on implementing Title programs; designing
effective Title programs; and the appropriate use of Title funds. <b>Participation
is limited to one qualifying representative per district.</b> <br>
<br>
<br>
The <b>9<sup>th</sup> Annual Title Programs Conference </b>is designed
for administrators who work with Title programs including central office
staff, homeless liaisons, school principals, assistant principals, and
lead teachers. Other federal program coordinators at the local and state
level, as well as school improvement specialists are encouraged to attend.
This two-day conference will continue the Department&#8217;s focus on informing
participants of current educational trends and best practices for leaders
of Title programs. <br>
<br>
Participants will have an opportunity to attend several concurrent sessions
on topics from the following conference strands: accountability, schoolwide
programs, SES, school improvement, parent involvement, charter schools,
special education, assessment, ESL, migrant students, homeless students,
private schools, distinguished schools, monitoring, policy/legal issues,
technology, research, and funding. General Sessions will include a keynote
speaker, a time for questions and answers, and state and federal program
updates. <br>

</font><font size=2 face="sans-serif">The <b>Homeless Liaison Workshop</b>
is designed for district homeless liaisons and other district personnel
charged with supporting the educational needs of homeless students. This
two day conference will begin June 16, 2011, with a noon luncheon and continue
through Friday, June 17, 2011. This workshop will provide attendees updates
regarding best practices, resources and tools to enhance the quality and
effectiveness of homeless programs on the local educational agency and
school level. <b>Participation is limited to two representatives per district.</b></font><font size=2 face="Arial"><b><br>

The 21<sup>st</sup> Century Community Learning Centers Summer Conference</b>
is designed to assist new and continuation sub-grantees in planning and
operating high quality programs. The conference offerings target program
managers, site directors, and out-of-school program teachers. This two
day conference will begin on June 16, 2011, with a noon luncheon and will
continue through Friday, June 17, 2011<b>. &nbsp;Participation is limited
to 150 participants. <br>

The Materials</b> <br>
<br>
One copy of the 2011 updated handbook, <b>IMPLEMENTING TITLE I IN GEORGIA
SCHOOLS &#8211; A HANDBOOK FOR TITLE I DIRECTORS</b>, will be provided to each
conference participant and will be used as a text for the New Title I Directors&#8217;
Workshop. Participants who already have the <b>IMPLEMENTING TITLE I IN
GEORGIA SCHOOLS </b>binder are asked to bring it to the conference, if
not please bring a 3&#8221; three-ring binder to hold your new handbook materials.
&nbsp;The Handbook is designed to assist educators who are charged with
implementing Title programs at the district level and includes sections
on basic program requirements; fiscal management; standards; assessment
and accountability; adequate yearly progress; corrective actions; schoolwide
and targeted assistance programs; and highly qualified staff. &nbsp;Numerous
appendices will include forms, sample policies, sample letters, reports,
and much, much, more. &nbsp;The handbook will be available on-line after
the conference. <b><br>

To save unnecessary printing, handouts for all sessions will be made available
electronically from the conference Web site. Please review the agenda for
each of the workshops and decide where your interests lie. &nbsp;Attendees

Personnel from the Georgia Department of Education, Title I, Part A; Title
I, Part D; Title II, Part A; Title II, Part D; Title III, Part C; Title
IV, Part A; Title VI, Part B, Homeless Education; School Improvement; Learning
Support Services; 21<sup>st</sup> Century; and the Office of Curriculum
and Instruction will lead this conference and provide practical suggestions
for Title I directors, school principals, assistant principals, lead teachers,
homeless liaisons, and central office staff who are responsible for Title
programs students. Additionally, the Office of Student Achievement (OSA),
the Professional Standards Commission (PSC), and practitioners responsible
for implementing Title programs and school improvement programs at the
district and school level will participate in concurrent sessions. </font>
